On Saturday afternoon، Angelina Jolie spent time in Maicao، Colombia at a refugee camp، ET Website reported.
The camp on the border of Venezuela and Colombia houses over 350 people. The actress and humanitarian، 44، has been in Colombia for a few days as she urges the United Nations and International Organization for Migration to create more homes for those fleeing the unrest in Venezuela.
As a special envoy for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)، Jolie met with Colombian President Ivan Duque. “The president and I spoke of the risk of statelessness for more than 20،000 Venezuelan children، his commitment to always helping children،” she recalled at a press conference.
“We agreed on the urgent need for the international community to give more support to Colombia، Peru and Ecuador، who are bearing the brunt of this crisis.”
Colombia has felt the majority of the refugee crisis with an estimated 1.3 million Venezuelans fleeing into the country over the last four years says the Washington Examiner.
