Like mother like daughter: 'Excited' Mai Kamal turns to jazz after opera experience
Young Egyptian talent Mai Kamal has expressed excitement over her entry into the world of jazz singing after her previous forays in opera performance.
After being busy with her advertising career and indulging her passion for travel in recent years، Kamal recently became fully dedicated to singing for the first time in her life، performing Jazz standards and Arabic covers at several venues، including the AUC’s Ewart Hall، Bibliotheca Alexandrina، Cairo Jazz Club's 610، and Room Art Space in downtown Cairo.
Mai is the only daughter of iconic Egyptian singer Afaf Radi، who inspired a generation with her popular kids’ songs and a huge collection of patriotic and romantic songs، theatre musicals and movies، and who proved exceptionally talented in her various endeavours.
The lovely young Mai spoke to Ahram Online on Monday in her first-ever newspaper interview to speak about her influences، passion and future plans.

Egypt's GASC receives offers in wheat tender: Traders
Egypt’s first state purchase tender for wheat in two months attracted a lowest offer of $196.90 per tonne for 60،000 tonnes of Russian wheat، traders said on Tuesday.
The offer was presented by Aston.
Egypt’s state grains buyer، the General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC)، said on Monday that it had adjusted the tender terms to remove penalties on delays at the port of arrival، which used to cost suppliers tens of thousands of dollars in demurrage fees. Traders welcomed the move.
GASC also adjusted its acceptable grade for wheat from Ukraine after the country introduced new standards for the grain.
The buyer has been out of the market for wheat since its last tender on April 12. It is seeking an unspecified quantity for shipment July 11-21.

Waziri: We will stop this auction، get back Tutankhamen bust
Head of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Waziri said that Egypt will interfere to stop selling Tutankhamen bust through the Egyptian Embassy in London، Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Antiquities.
Waziri said in a phone in to "El Hekaya" program on MBC Masr with Egyptian TV host AmrAdib that Egypt challenges Christie's London Auction house to prove by official documents that this artifact came from Egypt through legitimate channels.
"We will stop this auction and get back Tutankhamen bust،"Waziri said. Waziri added that Tutankhamen bust might have come out of the Karnak Temple or any other temple but sure it is an Egyptian artifact.

Egyptian authorities banned businessmen Salah Diab، owner of Al Masry al-youm newspaper، Mahmoud Abdel Ghaffar، former director of Petroleum pipelines company from traveling over a land-squatting investigation.
The authorities have also banned businessmen، Mahmoud Yehia، and Abdel Salam Mustafa، former head of HSBC، from traveling as per the same investigation. The business tycoon face accusations of state lands –squatting، shifting the land from agricultural activities، selling the lands for high prices after turning them into resorts or hotels.
