Egypt condemns Mali attack that left 95 dead

Egypt condemned the attack in central Mali that killed at least 95 civilians، the foreign ministry said Wednesday in a statement.

According to a statement، Egypt also expressed its “heartfelt condolences” to the families of the victims، the people and the Government.

According to Reuters news agency، the attack was staged by semi-nomadic Fulani herders at night، although no one has yet claimed responsibility for this attack.

Mali has seen an escalation of attacks in recent months، some ethnic while others were carried out by jihadist groups.

Tensions have been rising since the ethnic Dogon hunters were accused of carrying out a massacre on the semi-nomadic Fulani herders’s village in March.

Meanwhile، the UN Stabilization Mission in Mali، MINUSMA، has redeployed its security operations in central Mali to support the Malian Defense and Security Forces in securing and protecting the population.

At least 95 people were killed Sunday evening when armed men attacked an ethnic Dogon village in central Mali.

The gunmen set fire to the village and fired shots، fleeing at around midnight، the mayor، Ali Dolo، said. The attack was carried out by Fulani men، he said.
