Algeria defeated Kenya 2-0 in their opener in the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in the Egyptian capital of Cairo.

Algeria deserved the victory for their first half performance but Kenya will be proud of an improved show after the break.

Migne's changes that saw Johanna Omollo and Eric Ouma come on made an impact as Harambee Stars were able to posses and also try create problems for Desert Foxes.

Overall، the result isnt surprising and Kenya were punished for a jittery start to the game.

Algeria begin their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Group C with a tricky test against Kenya on Sunday evening at 30 June Stadium.

Algeria، captained by Manchester City forward، Riyad Mahrez need a win in their quest to advance to the knockout phase of the tournament after suffering a shocking group stage exit two years ago in Gabon.

On the other hand، this will be Kenya’s sixth appearance and they hope to give a good account of themselves starting from the game tonight. The Harambee Stars were impressive in the qualifiers as they finished second behind Ghana، whom they beat 1-0 in Nairobi
