Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met on Saturday with his Djiboutian counterpart Mohamed Ali Youssef in Cairo ahead of the urgent meeting of Arab foreign ministers.

The meeting discussed bilateral relations and preparations of the agenda for the upcoming Arab foreign ministers.

Shoukry praised the deep and significant bilateral relations between the two countries، stressing the keenness of Egypt to promote common interests between the two brotherly peoples.

The Egyptian top diplomat affirmed that Egypt seeks to develop its relations in the African continent in general and the countries of the Horn of Africa in particular، based on Egypt's strategy of the unity of common interests and the importance of realizing the aspirations of the African peoples for development، security and stability.

An urgent meeting of Arab League foreign ministers has been called for by Saudi Arabia، and will be held under the presidency of Djibouti in response to what Saudi has called “Iranian interventions in regional affairs."

The meeting will be preceded by a meeting of the committee made up of Egypt، Saudi Arabia، Bahrain، and the UAE on preventing Iran's interventions in neighbouring countries.

Saturday's meeting between Shoukry and Youssef will also discuss significant regional developments، as well as bilateral relations in several fields.
