Egypt’s Prime Minister continued his inspection tour to the sports facilities at the Cairo International Stadium on Saturday after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced Egypt as the new host for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournament from June 15-July13.

The Prime Minister held a meeting today with Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy، Dr. Ali Darwish، president of the Cairo Stadium، Eng. Mohsen Salah، chairman of El-Mokawlon El- Arab Group and Hani Abu Reda، chairman of the Egyptian Football Association.

During his tour of the Cairo International Stadium، Dr. Madbouli inspected the main football field، which can accommodate 72،400 fans. It is one of the main stadiums in Egypt and is scheduled to host the opening ceremony of the 2019 African Nations Cup.

Madbouli called on the replacement of the current grass with more evolved and well equipped one similar to international standards. The PM also inspected the main gallery، which will be well equipped to welcome several high ranking African officials from all over the African continent.

Madbouli has also directed to set up a fountain at each main entrance of the stadium، so that it will appear in a attractive image.

The Prime Minister stressed the need to develop cabins of commentators and changing rooms of players، in addition to setting up huge displays to ensure that matches are clearly watched by the fans، taking into consideration the development of bathrooms of players and the crowds.

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA)، headed by Hani Abu Rida، have chosen five governorates to host the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. The five governorates are Cairo، Alexandria، Ismailia، Port Said and Suez. Cairo is to host two groups، while the other four governorates will host one group each.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Tuesday that Egypt won the bid to host the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. Egypt won with 16 votes، while one vote went to South Africa.

The CAF had withdrawn the tournament from Cameroon last November because of the delay in the completion of infrastructure and sports facilities، in addition to concerns about the security situation.

He also discussed the latest developments in the stadium، which is the first and largest of its kind in the Middle East.
