U.S. President Donald Trump welcomed Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to the White House on Tuesday.
"We've never had a better relationship، Egypt and the United States، than we do right now،" Trump added as the two men spoke to reporters before meeting in the White House Oval Office.
"I think he's doing a great job”، Trump said about Al-Sisi، describing him as a "great person."
Regarding combating terrorism، Trump confirmed “a lot of progress has been made... in terms of terrorism and other things with Egypt.”
Trump also noted that first lady Melania Trump was recently in Egypt, having visited the pyramids in October.
"What she saw with the pyramids was -- you could call it the 7th wonder or the 8th Wonder of the World. She thought it was one of the most incredible things she's seen and we have lots of pictures," he said. "But she's not easily impressed, she was very impressed."
"All the credit goes to you، Mister President،" al-Sisi responded through an interpreter. "Thank you very much for your support on all fronts."
For his part، Sisi said that he hopes to talk with Trump about "making a quantum leap" in the bilateral strategic relationship.
According to a statement issued by the White House، following the official talks، the two leaders "engaged in a frank discussion on regional developments in Libya and the threat posed by the Muslim Brotherhood."
Trump and al-Sisi also "discussed water issues، which are critically important for the United States and Egypt،" the statement said، noting، "These complex issues must be addressed through negotiations and with respect for international best practices."
Both leaders expressed their mutual commitment to promoting religious liberty، according to the statement.
On the other hand، Presidency spokesman، Ambassador Bassam Radi said that Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al Sisi held discussions on Tuesday with his American Counterpart Donald Trump at the White House.
At the outset of the meeting، Trump welcomed al-Sisi، expressing his government keenness to promote bilateral relations and the Strategic cooperation between both countries as Egypt has a key role in preserving security and peace in the Middle East region.
For his part، President Sisi thanked Trump for his invitation، hailing the strategic relations between Egypt and the US، which are based on mutual respect and cooperation.
Moreover، Al-Sisi added that the upcoming period will witness intensive coordination between the two governments regarding various regional، and international issuesa of common interests.
Additionally، Rady said in a press statement that the summit touched several economic topics، foremost of which، trade exchange between Egypt and The US in the light of Egypt’s successful economic reform in order to create a better investment environment.
The American president was keen to praise the Egyptian efforts in facing terrorism، expressing his country’s full support for the Egyptian war against terrorism. Besides، Trump thanked Al Sisi for his apparent religious tolerance.
Trump emphasized how important to continue the cooperation between the US and Egypt in order to terminate the terrorist threat and prevent all sorts of support for terrorists، whether it was money، weapons or individuals.
Regarding the Palestinian cause، Al Sisi asserted to reach a just and comprehensive solution that guarantee the Palestinian people rights and lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Eastern Jerusalem as its capital، based on the resolutions of international legitimacy.
