Cairo is set to host on Tuesday two consultations summit to discuss latest developments regarding the Sudanese and Libyan files، in the light of Egypt’s current presidency to African Union (AU).
Egypt’s president، Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi، the Chairman of the African Union (AU)، hosts a consultative summit of the regional partners of Sudan attended by Chadian president Idriss Deby، Djibouti president، Ismail Omar Guelleh، Rwandan president، Paul Kagame، Congolese president، Denis sassou Nguesso، Somalia president، Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed، South African president، Cyril Ramaphosa، AU Commission chairman، Moussa Faki، Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister، Demeke Mekonnen، and the South Sudanese advisor for security affairs، as well as officials from Uganda and Nigeria، presidency spokesman، Ambassador، Bassam Rady announced.
He added that The summit aims at discussing the latest developments in Sudan، enhance joint action، and discuss the most appropriate ways to deal with these current developments and the way to contribute to promoting stability and peace there.
Many regional organizations involved in the Sudanese affairs are being represented in this summit. The Republic of Congo is currently chairing the International Conference of the Great Lakes، the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia، currently chairing the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the Troika of the African Union mainly former، current، and future heads of the union، namely Rwanda، Egypt and South Africa and Sudan neighboring states.
President El-Sisi will also host the Troika summit and the chairmanship of the Libya Committee of the African Union with the participation of the Presidents of Rwanda and South Africa، members of the African Union Troika، as well as the President of the Republic of Congo as Chairman of the AU Libya Committee.
The summit will address the latest developments witnessed by Libya lately and possible ways to contain the current crisis، revive the political process in Libya، and root out terrorism.
