Egypt will participate in the G20 Summit on Financial Markets and the World Economy due to be held in Japan’s Osaka on June 28 and 29، said Egyptian Ministry of Trade in a statement on Saturday.
In March 2019، Japanese Ambassador to Egypt Masaki Noke handed President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi an invitation from Japanese Prime Minister Shinzō Abe to participate in the G20 Summit.
The invitation was given to Egypt as it chairs the African Union this year، said Minister of Trade Amr Nassar in the statement.
“Egypt seeks effective participation in this summit. It will discuss a number of important issues between Egypt and Japan،” said Nassar during his meeting with Ambassador Noke، adding “It [Egypt] will also review its development experience of comprehensive economic reform and its vision of ways to strengthen international efforts for promoting the African continent.”
The trade volume between Egypt and Japan increased by 30.5 percent over the last year، reaching about $1.26 billion، compared to $969 million in 2017، Nassar said.
