Egypt Condemns Terrorist Attack on Iraqi Army Post that Killed Soldiers

Egypt reiterated its stance in condemning terrorism, calling for global collaboration to counter it.

The Egyptian government strongly denounced the recent terrorist attack on an army post in Iraq’s Salah Al-Din province on Monday, which tragically resulted in the deaths of multiple military personnel and left others injured.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs demonstrated Egypt’s unwavering support for Iraq in a recent statement, offering heartfelt condolences to the government, people, and families affected by the tragic events.

The ministry also sent well wishes for a quick recovery to those who were injured.

“The Arab Republic of Egypt affirms its firm and unwavering position condemning all forms of terrorism,” the ministry stated.

Egypt “calls for concerted international efforts to uproot [terrorism] and dry up its financing and backing sources,” it added.

The attack in Salah Al-Din province by suspected ISIS militants killed an Iraqi officer and four soldiers and wounded five others, according to media reports, citing officials.

Iraqi security forces initiated a major operation in the province to pursue the perpetrators on Tuesday, a local police source told the Iraqi Shafaq News.

The Iraqi Ministry of Defence mourned the “heroic victims who were martyred while repelling a terrorist attack,” adding in a statement that the military force in the area successfully thwarted the assault.
