Egypt, Qatar, and US urge Hamas and Israel to reach final ceasefire agreement

“As mediators in the ongoing discussions to secure a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages and detainees, the United States, Egypt, and Qatar jointly call on both Hamas and Israel to finalize the agreement embodying the principles outlined by President Biden on May 31, 2024,” the statement said on Saturday.

The joint statement comes as Cairo is gearing up to host a new round of Egyptian-American-Israeli talks on Sunday to discuss the reopening of the Rafah border crossing according to a high-level Egyptian source told Al-Qahera News TV channel on Saturday

In a united front, Egypt, Qatar, and the United States have urged both Hamas and Israel to quickly solidify the agreement based on the principles set forth by President Joe Biden last Friday.

In a unifying move, these principles have aligned the demands of all parties into a comprehensive deal that not only caters to multiple interests but also promises prompt relief to the beleaguered people of Gaza and the hostages along with their families, stated the announcement. Additionally, it outlined a roadmap towards achieving a lasting ceasefire and resolving the crisis once and for all.

During a recent speech, Joe Biden revealed a comprehensive three-phase plan that commences with a six-week full ceasefire, leading to the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the populated regions of Gaza.

The statement came after US Secretary of State Antony Blinken held separate calls with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.
