Jauan Jennings is visiting the Minnesota Vikings on Tuesday night and Wednesday as Minnesota looks to add receiver depth after losing Jalen Nailor in free agency and passing on a receiver in this year’s draft. Adam Schefter reported the visit, and Jennings enters it after spending his entire career with the San Francisco 49ers.
Jennings and the Vikings
Schefter wrote, "49ers free-agent wide receiver Jauan Jennings is visiting tonight and Wednesday with the Minnesota Vikings, per source". Jennings is entering his sixth year in the NFL, and the trip gives Minnesota a look at a veteran receiver with 75 games and 32 starts for San Francisco.
The Vikings had a clear opening at the position after Jalen Nailor signed with the Las Vegas Raiders in free agency. They also did not select a receiver in the draft over the weekend, which leaves the visit as one of the few immediate roster-building steps available at the position.
Jennings’ 2024 and 2025 numbers
Jennings was selected by the 49ers in the seventh round of the 2020 draft and has shown both production and durability concerns along the way. He said he was battling a slew of injuries during the 2025 campaign, when he finished with 55 receptions for 643 yards and nine touchdowns.
His best season came in 2024, when he reached 975 yards and six touchdowns. That drop in yardage, paired with the injury comment, gives Minnesota a receiver whose recent production was uneven but whose 2024 ceiling was higher than what he posted last season.
For Minnesota, the visit now becomes the next roster test at receiver. If the sides keep talking after Tuesday night and Wednesday, the team will have to decide whether Jennings fits the depth chart left thinner by Nailor’s departure and the draft weekend omission.
