Egypt condemns mass graves at Gaza hospital as a ‘shameful’ violation of international law

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly criticized the disturbing uncovering of mass graves containing more than 200 bodies at the Nasser Medical Complex in Gaza’s Khan Younis in the last three days. The Ministry described the discovery as “regrettable” and “shameful.”

Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesperson of Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed deep concern over the ongoing violations of international law and humanitarian values in the 21st century. He highlighted that these violations are taking place openly, within the sight and hearing of all countries, international organizations, and the Security Council.

Since Saturday, more than 210 bodies of Palestinians, including patients who were reportedly killed by Israeli forces during their incursion into the medical complex, have been recovered.

Ambassador Abu Zeid strongly criticized the ongoing Israeli violations of international and humanitarian law in Gaza, specifically the deliberate targeting of civilians, displaced individuals, and medical personnel.

He reiterated the urgent need for international intervention to stop these violations and to conduct necessary investigations to hold perpetrators accountable.

The spokesperson further added that the recent killings, destruction, and violence in the West Bank are equally alarming and dangerous, exacerbating the crisis and threatening to escalate tensions across all occupied Palestinian territories.

He called for an immediate halt to the violence and attacks by settlers, protected by Israeli forces, against Palestinian civilians, their property, and homes in the West Bank.
