Egypt and Bosnia initiate inaugural direct flight connection

El-Sisi was speaking during a joint press conference with Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia-Herzegovina Denis Bećirović following a meeting in Cairo.

El-Sisi said the meeting tackled efforts to bolster bilateral economic, trade, and investment relations, including the activation of the Joint Committee on Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation to increase trade between the two countries.

Bećirović’s visit to Egypt is the first in over 14 years.

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt revealed on Monday the exciting news of direct flights connecting select Bosnian cities to the picturesque Egyptian Red Sea destination of Hurghada. This initiative is a testament to the ongoing efforts to enhance tourism and strengthen the bonds between the two nations.

The president affirmed Egypt’s strong stance in supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He praised the recent decision by the European Council to initiate EU accession talks with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Egypt was among the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It has also participated in peace-keeping and peace-building processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Concurrence on Gaza

On the Gaza war, El-Sisi said he agreed with Bećirović on the crucial need to exert utmost efforts toward de-escalation and reinforcing stability in the Middle East region.

They also urged concerted international efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and to ensure the flow of humanitarian aid to the strip, he noted.

El-Sisi said they also concurred on the necessity of reaching a political, just, and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, along the 4 June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
