Arab and European Ministers Convene in Riyadh to Revitalize Two-State Solution Talks

The Egyptian top diplomat noted that international parties are required to carry out their legal and humanitarian responsibilities.in light of the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza and the increasing tensions in the West Bank.

On Monday, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry joined Arab and European ministers in a key meeting to address the implementation of the two-state solution and the recognition of a Palestinian state.

During the World Economic Forum in the vibrant Saudi capital, an important meeting was conducted on the sidelines.

In a statement from Egyptian Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid, FM Shoukry emphasized the importance of the international community’s earnest efforts to put an end to the prolonged Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and to assist the Palestinian people in securing their rightful and legitimate rights.

He argued that these responsibilities include finding a serious political horizon to implement the two-state solution, achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the region, and recognize a Palestinian state.

Shoukry emphasized that the two-state solution is the only way to ensure peace between Palestinians and Israelis, prevent the conflict from escalating, and establish stability and coexistence among the peoples of the region.

He warned that the continuation of the current situation in the occupied Palestinian territories would only result in widening the circle of violence, noting that choosing peace is the most acceptable course of action.

In addition, Shoukry underscored Egypt’s firm commitment to supporting the rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state over the borders of 4 June 1967, with east Jerusalem as its capital, living side by side with Israel.
