Belarusian Prime Minister Golovchenko Visits Cairo to Discuss Economic Cooperation

 

From his side, Golovchenko pointed out that relations between the two countries date to the Soviet era when there was cooperation on developing Egyptian infrastructure and industry.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly warmly welcomed Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko at Cairo International Airport on Monday, marking the historic first visit of a Belarusian PM to Cairo. The meeting centered on enhancing trade and economic ties between Egypt and Belarus.

The Prime Minister of Belarus is currently heading a prestigious delegation that includes the nation’s Minister of Anti-Monopoly and Trade Regulation, as well as various government officials.

Madbouly eagerly anticipates the signing of several cooperation agreements and is excited about the opportunity to benefit from Belarus’s industrial expertise, especially in the field of heavy industries.

He noted Belarus’s industrial capabilities and ability to maintain economic growth amid global developments.

PM Golovchenko also praised the bilateral relations and cooperation in combating terrorism and extremism.

Tuesday meeting
 

On Tuesday, Madbouly will host his Belarusian counterpart for an extensive session of talks at the cabinet headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.

The Egyptian-Belarusian Business Forum will also convene, involving relevant ministers and business figures from both countries.

In 2022, trade between Egypt and Belarus reached $95 million.

According to Egypt’s State Information Service (SIS), the main Belarusian exports to Egypt are tractors, trucks, tires, equipment, metal products, optical products, fertilizers, pumps, X-ray equipment, petrochemicals, agricultural products, pharmaceutical products, textiles, and garments.     

The most important Egyptian exports to Belarus are citrus vegetables and citrus fruits; plants for manufacturing perfumes; pharmaceuticals; and garments.
