The government is working tirelessly to serve the people and ensure electricity supply for citizens, suspending the implementation of load shedding schedules to ease the burden, especially with the rising temperatures during the summer season.

Suspension Date of Electricity Cut-off Schedules
An official source at the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy announced that intensive meetings are being held between the leadership of the Egyptian Holding Company for Electricity, chaired by Engineer Jaber Desouki, and the Ministry of Petroleum around the clock to develop a plan to secure the electricity network for the next 3 months and enter the summer season.

The source also announced the beginning of positive signs in the supply of the necessary fuel for electricity generation starting from May 1st. It is expected that the implementation of the load shedding schedule will be stopped during the summer months, with improvements expected in fuel supplies after the Ministry of Petroleum contracted for two shipments of gas scheduled to arrive in Egypt early next month, in addition to the government's decision to halt gas exports.

The source also added that there are currently no exceptions in the implementation of the load shedding schedule nationwide, revealing that all governorates are subject to load shedding by cutting off electricity for two and a quarter hours per subscriber maximum starting from 11 am until 5 pm.

The Cabinet announced to citizens regarding the cessation of electricity cuts and load shedding, on the occasion of the Coptic brothers' celebration of Easter and Holy Week, as happened during the month of Ramadan.

The celebration of the Coptic brothers' holidays begins next Sunday, April 28, 2024, until Sunday, May 5, 2024, in celebration of Easter.

Mohamed El-Hamamsi, the official spokesperson for the Cabinet, explained that the Cabinet has decided to suspend load shedding in the coming days nationwide on the occasion of the Coptic brothers' holidays, to be resumed thereafter.

He pointed out during a phone call with the media presenter Ahmed Moussa, host of the "On My Responsibility" program on Sada El-Balad channel, that the Ministry of Electricity took into consideration the students' exams regarding load shedding, and coordination will be made between the ministries of electricity and education during the exams.

He affirmed that the state's goal is to completely stop load shedding, and the current electricity network is capable of meeting Egypt's electricity needs, but there is pressure in providing fuel for power stations, which requires liquidity in dollars.
